MELAKA: Melaka has revoked the Datukship conferred upon GISB Holdings (GISB) chairman and chief executive officer, Nasiruddin Mohd Ali, with immediate effect.

State secretary Datuk Azhar Arshad, in a statement, said Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam upon receiving advice from Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, has instructed that the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (DPSM) award, which carries the ‘Datuk’ title, be stripped from Nasiruddin immediately.

Nasiruddin was previously conferred the honour on August 25.

He said Nasiruddin’s name has also been removed from the state’s 2024 honours recipients list.

“The revocation of the award is the prerogative of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka as per Article 34B, Section IV of the Melaka Constitution.

“As such, Nasiruddin Mohd Ali can no longer use the honorific and is required to return the ‘darjah kebesaran’ to the Melaka State Secretary’s Office at the Kompleks Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh,” he said.
